The Pin-Up

Mrs. Hince, Ms. Moss. Mrs. Hince will always be Ms. Moss, the pin-up. No matter how hard I try not to take frantic mental notes of every single outfit she wears, I just can't stop myself. She just nails it every time. I automatically find myself drawn to every item she wears or something very similar. I have absolutely no control over this pervasive influence on my style!

My absolutely favourite photo shoot is Testino's Hope and Glory from Vogue October 2008. The eclectic mix of motorcyle leathers, army surplus, chains, mesh, feathers, feminine scarves and heavily embellished gowns is exquisite.

I love it so much that I recently bought another copy of the issue on ebay (as I couldn't bear to tear up my own copy!), ripped out the pages and made a collage of my favourite images. It takes pride of place in my guest room.

Viva Mexicana!

This month I am obsessed with all things mexican! I came across the Mexicana line by Disaster Designs. Bought the fab wallet. Now have my eyes on the bag... Available in Avoca!

I am also in love with Spell's Bonita and Juerez wallets.

Minnetonka Moccasins

Just a little post on bootie Moccasins. Love, love, love them. Comfort and cuteness all rolled into one pair of booties. These ones are by Minnetonka.

Moroccan Tea Party

Mmmmm... I can smell the spices just thinking about my little trip to Morocco. Marrakech is quite possibly my most favourite city ever. I love being awoken by the call to prayer just as the sun comes up and smelling the mint tea brewing in the riad courtyard... the perfect start to a hectic day spent in the stifling souks negotiating a good price for teapots, spice jars, lanterns, cushions, tagines. Although I can attempt to re-create the atmosphere of a Moroccan tea party in my garden in Dublin city centre, it could never come close to sitting in the cool courtyard of a decadantly furnished riad within the crumbling red walls of Marrakech.

Red, Amber + Turquoise

I always liked jewellery. But it wasn't until I visited Nepal in 2008 that I really found my own style. I was immediately drawn to the intricate designs that were found in abundance on every street stall (even in the most remote villages you can imagine, high up in the Himalaya without any road access). Although I was backpacking on a shoe-string, I still managed to make some extravagant allowances for some pieces I fell in love with. The bright colours are just fabulous.

ADORE this photo of Kate Moss in Nepal from Vogue 1993.

Winding Streets

I could spend hours walking on winding cobble-stoned streets. I love how the light reflects off the walls and casts shadows. You never know what you're going find around the next corner ... a gorgeous cafe to stop and have a creamy cup of coffee, a secret shop that you've never come across before, a beautiful door... I bought the cream top I'm wearing in the sixth photo at an amazing vintage shop I discovered while wandering down winding streets. I have made it my business to wander down that street many times since!

Light + Shadows

Autumn is setting in and the evenings are getting darker, the mornings brighter. I love this transition from light to darkness and all the new shapes and shadows that come with it.

Le Marché

I've just returned from a short, but delicious holiday in Provence. We were based in the beautiful little village of Uzes which holds a food market on Wednesdays and a massive "everything you can think of" market on Saturdays. I love to wander about aimlessly, absorb all the smells (especially the lavander!), music and French chatter and build up an appetite for a divine lunch comprising cheeses, tapenade, olives and wine. The bright fabrics are gorgeous too - I never have enough room in my suitcase to bring some home! Mark snapped away while I perused the stalls and the result was a collection of some very pretty and bright images.
